When davefish attended a lecture on laser safety, the lecturer was wearing a genuine eyepatch, which lent a certain emphasis to the whole thing...

Someone on my f-list just posted a link to a guy who makes steampunk goggles & "monocles" which look like eyepatches to me. Bit pricey though.
