The Royal Marsden's on fire. From the TV, it looks quite nasty.

That's very not good.

ETA: One of the guys at work has suggested that the London Fire Brigade need a really big pair of M&S pants.

They do have an old tin bucket.

Yup. The top floor's on fire. 40 firefighters, but it appears to be spreading.

Urk. Big building fires are always scary. Fires in big buildings containing lots of people who can't move under their own steam is are terrifying...

Patients all evacuated, which is good. But it's in a built up area, adding further to the scary. Part of the attic/top floor looks to be gutted, and it's still burning.

There is a seriously huge amount of smoke. Were I at home, that would be very clearly visible from my window.

There does seem to be a hell of a lot of it. I'm sure it's quite obvious from home. The roof is pretty much gone.

Yeah, I'm watching it on the news.

I get a new mobile tomorrow, yay! The one I wanted, for free, and I've halved my line rental as well! :-)

Well, y'know, we're ok down here, and the smoke will never hit cornwall. They'll stop it at the border and demand proof of its heritage before they let it in.

Keep us updated?

Bloody Cornish. :-)

They're up to 125 firefighters now. Roof mostly destroyed, top floor still on fire.

Most of the patients are in a local church, with more urgent cases sent off to the Royal Brompton. Three casualties, one patient and two firemen, smoke inhalation, all at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
This is a very bad day for specialist cancer care.
