I promise, promise, that I will shut up about this at some point. Just not today.

I have a question.

Is this amazing array of colour and richness and detail what those of you with decent eyesight see all the time? And if so, how the hell do you get down the street without stopping to look at everything? Why are the streets not full of people going "wow..." without the aid of recreational drugs?

I am 5, I know.

i look at things all the time - i never walk fast as i am always looking at bloosom, birds, water, people and most of all shiney things. This is only annoying when i have to try and keep up with friends walking to somewhere

I don't know, I've not tuned my lenses in to intercontinental vision yet.

I'll take your word for it.

I don't know how much detail you see now so I have no way of comparing it. Too bad we can't download a picture of what our eyes see yet.

I guess it's a case of getting used to it after a while.

Apparently the extra brightness may stick around, something to do with the lenses. I need many pairs of shades.

Oh no, shopping.

*nods* Lenses dull a certain amount over time so yours are the same as a new borns.
My mum had issues with things being too bright after her cataract operations.

I have the same reaction when I get a new pair of glasses. It never lasts; by a couple of days later, I've gotten used to them. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have that brilliance and clarity all the time - but I think it would be terribly distracting after a while.

In a week or so you'll be used to it, but right now I don't blame you for revelling in it and enjoying it! :-D

When I finally got into contact lenses it was so wonderful, just not having that barrier there was very liberating.

I had that feeling the last time I had new lenses put into my glasses :)

Not having decent eyesight I couldn't say what was normal but it would certainly explain Marcus's interest in everything when we're out.

That's why I tend to close all the curtains when I'm trying to write or play video games. Too much to look at!

i didn't have full 3d vison untill i was 30 and got prismatic lens (and tints) in my glasses. They wow! factor died down a bit aftre a while but some of it remains. Sometimes it is still overwealming. But i've concentrted a lot more on drawing with all ther facinatinmg new detail and that's fun.

I'm not very blind (6/12), but I get that with contact lenses in.
