Some of you may not have seen this, but you should. It may even make those worried feel better.

Not because it clears up any of the questions, but because it's so insanely funny.

CERN Rap from Will Barras on Vimeo.

I am v amused that the only person (bar me and Nic) to choose Option B in my poll was [livejournal.com profile] calseris. Amused but not surprised.

But I don't think foam can plug a black hole.

I don't wanna die.

Though I've been saying for years that the world will end shortly after some scientist-type says "Oh shi-"

We're not going to die yet, but [livejournal.com profile] sassette726 is hilarious when she panics, so I like to remind her that WE MIGHT ALL DIE SOON! :-)

And if the world is going to end prematurely, that's how it will go.

Silly as it is, I am rather worried. I just think that we could maybe leave some things alone. And, y'know, lower gas prices, cure cancer, feed the hungry, that sort of thing.

Also NOT KILL US ALL.

I see that point, I do. But inside me is a SCIENCE GEEK waiting to be let out, who has always wanted to explore the universe and find alien life and understand dark matter and all of that aned everything else, so although my brain is not wired to really understand this properly, I am still fascinated.

Also, I'm still hoping for Option B. I like Option B.

The morning after Option B, will my soul be manifested next to me as a bird or a mongoose or something?

Date: 2008-08-06 01:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madwitch.livejournal.com
No, because of the flaws in that system, these being that you have no hope for real change or to grow if your soul is formed and static like that.

Unless we can get it to mutate often, then you can have one. If you want.

I just want to live in a parallel universe with the possibility of panserbjorne.

Anything is possible in our mirror worlds. I'm sure we can find one that has them.

We'll just go ask the NZ researchers that have a machine that looks just like the Stargate, which is designed to brek through into parallel dimensions. But there is a tiny chance it will destroy the world when they switch it on.

I'm leaning more towards Option B all of a sudden.

To NZ! Or just concentrate really hard. :-)

The fact that they're in NZ does not fill me with confidence... ;-)

I support finding the antimatter - then we can get back all the energy and build star drives and lightsabres and teleportals and our phones will stay on for more than two days.

Oh, and I can meet anti-Ben. I bet he has an eyepatch.

He'd have to. Anti-Ben could be no other way.

Or alternatively, get really drunk.

Nerds make me giggle.

That being said, I was freaked out (being so close in proximity to [livejournal.com profile] sassette726 does not help these things) until I read the article in the New Yorker.

The head CERN guy set his pen on the table in front of the reporter and said, "there is a chance that this pen will randomly and instantly fall through this table based on something called the "tunnel effect". But ever in your life have you exdperienced a pen falling instantly through a table?"
